The good-by kiss (as well referred to as the bon-voyage bonus) occurs as method by which the target house tries to cease the hostile takeover by purchasing back the bidder's option in the target. This repurchase is typically at the real premium & creates the high profit for the bidding house. Reciprocally, a bidder agrees to terminate a takeover attempt.
